Welcome! My name is Mara Matagne. I am a professional Maker and Animator, now based in Copenhagen, Denmark.
My practice thrives in collaborative and imaginative environments where ideas circulate freely, and experimentation is integral to the creative process. By combining design processes, sculptural work and digital fabrication, I explore the intersections of different crafts, shaping them into cohesive and meaningful forms. This multidisciplinary approach allows me to contribute across different stages of a project from developing an idea, to problem-solving, making and bringing it into its final physical or digital form.
I aim to produce work that balances creativity, precision and functionality, driven by a deep curiosity for new mediums. This curiosity has cultivated a continually evolving, material-based practice, guided by processes that respond to the fundamental qualities and possibilities of each material. Through my work, I translate complex ideas into tangible forms, approaching every project with careful attention to visual storytelling, collaborative problem-solving and technical execution.
More recently, I have expanded my practice into 3D Character Animation and Animation Production Management. Developing these skills has given me a broader understanding of the animation pipeline and of how different creative and production departments contribute to bringing a project from an initial idea to the screen. Combined with my background in modelmaking, design and digital fabrication, this has helped me become a more well-rounded creative professional who can understand and contribute to both the making and the wider process behind a project.
